TGA Supersport
76Most mobility scooters follow pretty much the same lines; they have three or four wheels between six and ten inches in diameter; they have low ground clearance – typically about three inches. Most of all they LOOK like mobility scooters. Apart from a few notable exceptions (the NHC Royale for example) no one will ever confuse a mobility scooter for anything else. Its purpose is clear the moment you look at it; it is made for short urban jaunts and carrying small loads (maybe a couple of shopping bags).
The same is true of the TGA Supersport manufactured by Afikim, but only in the sense that its purpose is clear just from looking at it. This is a go anywhere monster. Its fifteen inch front wheel dwarfs even the largest standard mobility scooter wheel, but even that pales against its massive twenty inch rear wheels. With its eye catching chopper style handlebars and motor cycle style front suspension you would be forgiven for thinking this must be one of the most rugged scooters on the market today. You would be forgiven because you would be right; built with a reinforced steel chassis the Supersport is made to take abuse.
The Supersport is a true go anywhere scooter. It has a ground clearance of five inches, which is nearly double the clearance on most standard scooters. This allows the Supersport to safely manage curbs and obstacles of up to five inches height. The turning radius of this scooter is impressive; it can perform a one hundered and eighty degree turn in under forty inches, shorter even than its own length.
The Supersport is available with either a standard battery pack or a heavy duty battery pack. Both battery packs consist of two 12v batteries, the standard delivering 40a/h and the heavy duty 75a/h. The standard battery has a stated range of up to twenty miles, and the heavy duty of up to thirty miles (this will of course vary based on terrain and load). Unlike most mobility scooters the TGA Supersport has power to spare; the total weight it can handle is about thirty two stone. it can safely climb gradients up to twenty one degrees and even tow loads of up to one hundred kilos. In fact Afikim even offer a ‘Porter’ model with a massive rear cargo holder designed specifically for maintenance personnel who need to transport equipment and supplies!
Unlike most run of the mill mobility scooters the Supersport is manufactured in several different configurations. There is the standard edition, supplied with a standard seat and aqua marine paint work; the SE edition that has a longer wheel base, eight inches longer than the standards sixty six inches; the Black and Chrome, or LTD which is equipped with a plush captain’s seat and has a black chassis with chromed front forks; and the afore mentioned Porter with the extra large carrying rack. In addition to these models the Supersport range are also available in standard, wide, and extra wide seats, the extra wide being dersigned for two people but illegal for this purpose in the UK.
The Supersport is a mobility scooter unlike any other on the market today. While its styling is not for everyone no one can argue with its maneuverability and versatility. It is truly a scooter without compromise.

It is a great scooter, but I have heard they are discontinuing the standard model so this may be out of date quite soon.
